FIRST QUARTER 2024 IDAHO BREWERY UPDATES

 By Bob Hubler

Idaho entered the year with 99 breweries.  Four New Breweries opened in the first quarter of 2024 and two breweries closed.  Idaho ended the quarter with 101 active breweries.

Four new breweries plan  to open in Idaho in 2024.

See List of Idaho Breweries for the detailed list.

NEW IDAHO BREWERIES THAT OPENED IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF 2024.

137 GEM STATE BREWING

Gem State Brewing was the first Brewery to open in 2024 and became the 100th Active Idaho Brewery.

The original GEM State Brewing was located in downtown Caldwell, but only lasted a couple of years.

This brewery has been in the works for five years and survived a pandemic and many red tape setbacks.   The wait was worth it.  The Grand Opening on January 6th had overflow crowds that were  finally rewarded with Eagle's very own Craft Brewery and Tap house

GEM STATE BREWING is a very unique Idaho Brewery for several reasons:
1 - It is one of the few Idaho breweries to build their own building, as opposed to buying a building that was used for another purpose.
2 - The owners also live in an apartment located on the second floor of the brewery.
3 - The brewery is in downtown Eagle and surrounded by many local restaurants where you can order their food to go, then eat it at the brewery while enjoying great beer.

The bar top is actually made from the old oak tree that stood in the center of the original property.  Check out pictures below.

I predict great success for this new Eagle business as it is destined to be a popular local neighborhood pub that is within easy walking and bicycling distance from many Eagle residents..

A little background of The Bruery:

The Bruery was found by Patrick Rue in 2008 in Placentia, California and specializes in very dark, barrel-aged high-alcohol beer.  Patrick swore that he would never brew an IPA!  When The Bruery was acquired by a Boston company in 2017, they kept the pledge made by Patrick, but to provide their customers with a wide range of beer choices, they started The Offshoot Beer Co. to brew their IPA's and other lighter beer.
