Post Modern Brewers Closes

I was very sad about the Post Modern Brewery Closing for several reasons.

1 - I really enjoyed Head Brewer Marvin Kinney's Beer.  I have known Marvin for many years and I was thrilled for him when he got the chance to be a head brewer at a local Brew Pub.  Marvin brewed great beer while he was at Post Modern.  We never left the brewery without at least one Growler full of beer.

2 - We were there for the opening of Table Rock Brew Pub back in the 80's and we were there for the  opening of Post Modern and we were there on the last day they were open. We have been drinking beer in that location for nearly 30 years.  We will miss it.

3 - I will also miss the the Grind Burger.  My favorite Burger in Boise.  Ryan Hembree's Menu at the Grind was so good, he is an extremely talented chef.

4 - I feel bad for Rick Boyd.  I have known Rick and Tatiana since they opened Brewtopia (which later became Brewforia) over by Boise Town Square. We spent a lot of time at the Brewforia Meridian location.  The Brewforia in Eagle was combined with The Grind Restaurant and it was a great place to hang out.  We were bummed when that one closed.  Rick was so excited to get his own brewery combined with his Grind Restaurant when the former Table Rock Brewery location became available. When they opened Post Modern/The Grind brew pub, it included a Brewforia Growler Station and bottle shop next door.  It was a great set up for all the Craft Beer fans in Boise.

Moscow Brewing Closes

Moscow Brewing is no more. The first brewery in Moscow was Moscow Brewing, a 1.5 bbl nano brewery with a tap room. They  used three 15 gallon brew systems at brew their beer as shown below:

This brewery was for sale during it's last days of operation in May.

Rants and Raves Brewery and Grill in Moscow Opens

Rants and Raves Brewery and Grill brought the total of Idaho Breweries back to 49.  R&R owner Ramirose Attebury and her husband Neil opened this Brew Pub in late November 2015 bringing Moscow, Idaho back to one brewery since Moscow Brewing recently closed. Rants and Raves features a 7 bbl brew system.  Tyler Hawkins is the head brewer and Wyatt DuBois is the assistant brewer at R&R.  Although the Brew pub opened in January 2016, they did not brew their own beer until April when all their licensing requirements were met.

Rants and Raves is a brew pub with a full menu of pub style food including the classic bangers and mash.  There is also a kids area and families are welcome.  Check out the links to two stories below for more information about the brewery and their head brewer.

Magic Valley Brewing opens a brew pub in Buhl

Magic Valley Brewing opened a brew pub in Buhl which brings the total to 50 breweries in the state. Rich White and his wife Judy are the owners of this new brew pub located just a few miles west of Twin Falls which currently has no brew pubs.  Rich is a "Master Brewer" and former part owner and brewer at White Water Brewing in California; but Rich is not a California Transplant, he grew up in the Buhl area.

The restaurant part of the brew pub features the pub menu including the classic Scotch Egg, one of my favorite pub foods.  The pub displays a wall of mugs for their "founders club".  Each mug has the patron's name on it and is larger than a regular pint glass.
